Employee hit in the head with hammer attack at dollar store in Ohio
Canton, Ohio (wisconsin) — One of two people currently in police custody is accused of attacking a dollar store clerk in Ohio with a hammer, hitting him several times, including in the head, according to a police report.
On May 8, police responded to a Dollar General store in Canton, Ohio, for reports of a woman brandishing a hammer and a man assaulting people inside the store, according to reports.
By the time police arrived, the suspects had fled in a hatchback.
The store clerk told police that the female suspect struck her multiple times in the body and head with a hammer. Police confirmed the woman had cuts and bruises on her head, and she was taken to a nearby hospital. According to reports, she was scheduled to undergo a test.
Another victim told police that the man punched her in the back of the head multiple times. She also showed police cellphone video of the alleged hammer attack.
A third victim said she tried to intervene to calm down the male suspect, but he poured beer on her head, slapped her in the face and knocked her glasses off, the report said.
The fourth victim videotaped the suspects fleeing the store and then went outside to capture the vehicle's license plate. The male suspect then attempted to hit the man with his car, according to reports.
Other officers later spotted the vehicle in another area of town and arrested both suspects. A hammer, believed to be the murder weapon, was also found inside the vehicle, the report said.
Peyton Valentine, 21, and Manon Valentine, 20, both of Canton, are currently charged with one felony count each and are being held on $75,000 bail.
