Event celebrating Joel Rudy's life planned for May 18th in Athens

The Ohio University community is invited to join Joel Rudy's Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 pm at the Ohio University Inn and Conference Center.

Mr. Rudy served as vice president for student affairs and dean of students at Ohio University for nearly 30 years before passing away on December 23, 2023.

Rudy joined Ohio University in 1976 and began his dedication to student development and leadership. Rudy, who was affectionately known as “Dean She Rudy” to generations of Bobcats, was dedicated to the success, diversity, and inclusion of her students and fostered a culture of empathy and unity. . He remained active in the university and the Athens community after his retirement in the late 1990s.
