Marion, Ohio (WCMH) – A man arrested in Detroit was charged with murder in the wake of a shooting in Marion over a dispute over who was the better rapper, Marion said. The county attorney’s office said.
Marquis Adams was handed over From Detroit, Michigan to Marion, he disappeared from the area for nearly five months after he was accused of shooting dead 17-year-old Jamia Douglas.
According to the release, on the night of August 21, 2022, the two were arguing on social media about who was the better rapper. Hours later, just after midnight on August 22, 18-year-old Adams shot and killed Douglas, according to eyewitnesses. In front of Douglas’ house on his 500 block on Adams Street. Douglas had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Marion General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Adams fled the scene and was named as a murder suspect Police added $2,500 in September to an initial $5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. He went to Detroit and was on the run until he was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
