COLUMBUS, OH (WJW) – Ohio residents will be given the chance to fish for free on June 17th and 18th, according to WJW. Ohio Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division.
This annual event is an opportunity for novice and experienced anglers to enjoy license-free fishing in Ohio’s public waters, including Lake Erie and the Ohio River.
Anglers under the age of 16 can fish for free all year round.
This event aims to expand access and participation in this popular summer activity.
“Fishing is a pastime meant to be shared with friends and family,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “We invite you to come and experience the abundance of fishing opportunities that Ohio has to offer.”
All other fishing regulations, size requirements and baggage restrictions still apply.
Ohio’s lakes, reservoirs, and streams provide excellent fishing opportunities, and the Wildlife Service is working to improve spawning conditions, build fish-attracting devices and structures, and enforce fishing regulations.
