The night will feature Friends-themed music, a special Storytime event, a screening of the Friends 50th anniversary documentary, a chorus of “Happy Birthday” recounting the group’s long history, and, of course, cupcakes and Mitchell’s ice cream. Includes a light meal consisting of: Cream, according to the release.

Friends of Westlake Porter Public Library was founded in 1972 by a group of community members who believed in the importance of reading, the value of books and library services to the community and wanted to support those values.

For more than 50 years, we have donated over $1 million to libraries to fund our annual Summer Festival.
It will fund library challenges, outreach van purchases, National Library Week activities, special activities for library staff, and more, the release said.

Most recently, they donated $100,000 to an outdoor programming pavilion currently under construction, according to a release.

Most of their funding comes from annual book sales, ongoing book sales rooms, and sales at portable gift shops, the release said.

“Over the past 50 years, hundreds of Friends of Westlake Porter Public Library members have enriched our community by selflessly giving their time to support the library and its programs,” said Friends. Board President Lynn Pettyjohn said in a release. “Celebrate Friends volunteers past and present by joining her birthday bash on November 4th.”
