Shane Bieber pitched six scoreless innings as the Cleveland Guardians defeated the host Seattle Mariners 5-2 on Tuesday night.

Bo Naylor hit a two-run homer for the Guardians, who evened the three-game series with one win each.

The Beavers (2-0) have not allowed a run in 12 or more innings this season after pitching six scoreless innings and winning an 8-0 decision in the season opener in Oakland. The right-hander allowed six hits for Seattle, gave up no walks to any batters, and gave up nine hits.

Emmanuel Clase made his second save of the season in the ninth.

Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo (0-2) took the loss. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits, four runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts.

Castillo pitched well in the first three innings with two hits and six strikeouts, but ran into trouble in the fourth inning.

Jose Ramirez took the lead with an infield hit, and with two outs, Will Brennan grounded out to right and went under the glove of outfielder Mitch Haniger, allowing Ramirez to take the lead. Naylor hit a 1-0 fastball to the inside corner, which sailed over the right-field wall to give the Guardians a 3-0 lead.

Cleveland scored another run in the fifth inning, but could have easily scored more.

Brayan Rocchio led off with a double into the left field corner. Steven Kwan made a sacrifice bunt, and third baseman Josh Rojas' throwing error brought Rocchio home.

Andres Jimenez hit a double over right, leaving him on second and third base with no outs. After Ramirez grounded out to first base, the Mariners intentionally walked Josh Naylor to load the bases. Castillo struck out Tyler Freeman into an inning-ending double play, keeping the score at 4-0.

Cleveland extended its lead in the seventh inning off the Mariners' bullpen. With one out, Ramirez got an infield hit from Taylor Saucedo. Josh Naylor grounded out to right, sending Ramirez to third base. Reliever Cody Bolton was met with Freeman's sacrifice fly deep to right, making it 5-0.

The Mariners pitched in the bottom of the inning against Cleveland relief pitcher Eli Morgan. Cal Lowry led off with a single grounder to center field, and Ty France reached base with a walk. With one out, Rojas hit a double down the left field line, scoring Lowry.

Scott Barlow started in Morgan's place, and after grounding out JP Crawford to shortstop and bringing home the second run, Julio Rodriguez flied out to left to end the inning.
