Kia Motors recalls 427,000 Telluride SUVs due to risk of overturning while parked
Kia Motors is recalling approximately 427,000 Telluride SUVs due to the risk of them falling while parked.
Kia, at news Shaft components in affected vehicles may not be fully engaged, according to information posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website.
2020-2024 models are affected. Kia estimates the defective rate to be 1%, with only 16 vehicles total reported so far. No injuries were reported.
Kia says owners must manually apply the emergency parking brake before exiting the vehicle until repairs are completed. Dealers have announced that they will update the car's electronic parking brake software if necessary and replace any damaged intermediate shafts free of charge.
Kia Motors says owners who have already addressed the issue will be reimbursed for the repair costs.
