Man detained after shooting into Ohio college building and crashing car
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WCMH) — A man was detained Wednesday morning after his car crashed into a building on the Ohio Christian University campus, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Pickaway County Sheriff’s Department officials said they received a call around 5 a.m. that a vehicle had struck a building on the Ohio Christian University campus.
The PCSO said the campus was cordoned off after an armed man was discovered inside the Performing Arts Building and law enforcement set a perimeter around the location.
The man was taken into custody by authorities around 8:00 am and no injuries have been reported from the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, he is accused of firing at least one shot at the front door of the building, shattering the glass and barricading himself inside.
The man was charged with inciting panic, mishandling a firearm in a car, obstructing public service and vandalism, according to Circleville Police.
A spokesperson confirmed to NBC4 that classes for Christians in Ohio were canceled Wednesday, pending an investigation.
Because the police are stationed nearby, Circle Building Municipal School There was a two hour delay on Wednesday as the school district canceled morning kindergarten and delayed the afternoon kindergarten start time by 20 minutes.
