Man rescued from house fire in south Toledo
Fire crews responded to a reported vacant house fire before finding the man in a second-floor bedroom.
TOLEDO, Ohio — A was rescued from a house fire in south Toledo Wednesday morning, according to Toledo Fire and Rescue.
Crews responded to the reported vacant house fire at Eastern Avenue and Courtland Avenue around 7:30 a.m. They found a small fire in the basement.
Upon searching the vacant home, fire crews found a man in a second-floor bedroom and was quickly removed from the structure, TFRD said.
The man was conscious, alert and evaluated on scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation before refusing any additional treatment.
Toledo Fire said that it appeared the man was trying to stay warm inside the vacant, boarded-up house.
An investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
