Military Appreciation Month at the Greater Dayton Humane Society
Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) — The Humane Society of Greater Dayton (HSGD) military program allows service members and their families to spend special time with their furry (or scaly) friends.
Members and their families are encouraged to explore options available through the Military Companion Program during Military Appreciation Month.
Although shelter animals are not trained service animals, the Humane Society says their presence provides caretakers with comfort, companionship and unwavering support.
The shelter, located near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, says the Military Companions Program recognizes the valuable role pets play in the lives of military members and their loved ones.
HSGD offers special offers to military members throughout the year, including 25% off adoption fees. This discount is available to all active duty military, current reserve officers, and veterans. Additionally, a microchip can be installed free of charge.
You must present a valid military (Department of Defense) ID to take advantage of these discounts.
