Kansas City, Missouri (WCMH) — Over the next three days, hundreds of college football players will make their dreams come true when their names are called to become members of an NFL franchise.
The NFL Draft begins Thursday night, once again with a wide selection of players from Ohio colleges.
Among these players are eight former Ohio Buckeyes, including three who will be selected in the first round. At quarterback he is CJ Stroud, offensively his lineman Paris Johnson Jr., and at receiver Jackson Smith-Nigba.
A number of other former Buckeyes and other Ohio school players are expected to be recruited between Thursday and Saturday, with more signed as undrafted free agents in the days to come. Of over 300 prospects in the NFL Draft, more than a dozen players from nearly six colleges in Ohio are in the prospect pool.
Here’s a look at the prospects available from schools in Ohio:
CJ Stroud

Paris Johnson Jr.

Jackson Smith Nigba
- school: Ohio
- position: wide receiver
- Expected selection: 11th to 20th overall
- Things to know: After a record-breaking Rose Bowl performance (15 catches for 347 yards and 3 touchdowns), he missed most of the 2022 season.
Dawand Jones
- school: Ohio
- position: aggressive lineman
- Expected selection: 1st round second half to 2nd round first half
- Things to know: Twice in 2021 and 2022, at 6 feet 8 inches tall, he was named to the second All-Big Ten team.
Luke Wipler
- school: Ohio
- position: aggressive lineman
- Expected selection: 2nd round to 3rd round
- Things to know: Among the top 20 scouts, he has completed 29 combined bench press reps.
Tyler Scott
- school: Cincinnati
- position: wide receiver
- Expected selection: 3rd round to 4th round
- Things to know: He was named to the 2022 All-AAC Second Team with 899 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Zack Harrison
- school: Ohio
- position: defensive lineman
- Expected selection: 3rd round to 4th round
- Things to know: He made the All-Big 10 for the third straight season, including a First-Team All-Conference appearance in 2022.
Ronnie Hickman Jr.

- Expected selection: 4th to 5th round
- Things to know: Named second-team All-Big Ten by the conference coaches in 2021.
Karl Brooks

- Expected selection: 5th to 6th round
- Things to know: After recording 10 sacks in the 2022 season, he was named a First Team All-MAC.
Ivan Pace Jr.

- position: linebacker
- Expected selection: 5th to 6th round
- Things to know: Consensus All-American in one season with the Bearcats. Also, Conference Defensive He won Player of the Year and was named a finalist for the 2022 He Butkus Award and He Chuck Bednarik Award.
Josh Whyle
