BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) — A grand jury has indicted an Ohio man accused of shooting his three young sons in murder. The charge could carry the death penalty.
Chad Dorman, 32, was charged Thursday with aggravated murder, kidnapping and assault in the murder of his sons on June 15, according to Clermont County court records.
Clayton Dorman, 7, Hunter Dorman, 4, and Chase Dorman, 3, have all died. Prosecutors have said Dorman admitted to planning the shooting, but he pleaded not guilty in an arraignment on Friday.
“It was this man who, when they woke up in the morning, wanted protection, love and guidance in every way,” Clermont County Court Chief Prosecutor David Gust said at the last hearing.
“He was their world, their protector, and executed them in cold blood,” Gust said.
The 34-year-old mother, who was unidentified, was outside the home and was shot in the hand while trying to protect her sons from their father, the sheriff’s office said.
The obituary states that the three boys were filled with unconditional love for each other and the people they met. An obituary notes that they loved fishing and baseball, and liked to stay up past bedtime and laugh together.
Authorities have not released a motive for the killings in Monroe Township, about 75 miles (120 km) west of Columbus. Dorman has been held without bail and is currently being held at the Clermont County Jail.
Court records do not indicate whether an attorney was represented in the most recent arraignment. The Clermont County Public Defender’s Office did not disclose whether they represent Mr.
