Ohio gun trafficking suspect may have fled to Columbus, ATF says

Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) – A fugitive wanted from Cincinnati for a gun trafficking conspiracy is still at large and may now be in the Columbus area.

The Columbus Field Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives used stolen credit card information to purchase firearms online, which were shipped to federal firearms licensors in the Cincinnati area.

Allen, 26, of Cincinnati, has been charged with two related charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District. Allen and four others, including Columbus native Jada Jones, are charged with conspiring to make false statements about the identity of the true purchaser of a firearm during the purchase process from a federal firearms licensee. They had 14 firearms shipped to the Southern District of Ohio, and allegedly obtained nine of them.

Jones is one of five suspects charged with fraudulently obtaining a total of five Small Business Administration Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans during the COVID-19 pandemic. .

The remaining six, five in Cincinnati and one in Atlanta, Georgia, are suspected of making false statements when purchasing firearms. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio, they attempted to ship 60 firearms and were successful in obtaining 38 of them. Four of those six defendants have also been charged with PPP fraud, resulting in losses of approximately $121,000.

Allen is still at large and was found in the Columbus area where he was linked, the ATF said. Authorities are also searching Cincinnati native Chad Bauer for involvement in the conspiracy. The agency warned that both fugitives were armed and considered dangerous.
