Ohio’s $500 Energy Assistance Program

CLEVELAND (WJW) — You have just a few weeks left to sign up for Ohio’s Energy Assistance Program.

called Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program, eligible Ohioans can receive $500 to help with their electricity bills. This program does not cover gas and water bills.

the household get a qualification People who are 175% or less of Federal Poverty Guidelines and have at least one of the following:

  • People over 60 years old
  • A person diagnosed with a recognized medical problem requiring a cool environment
  • Those who received a power outage or disconnection
  • Those who are working to receive new electricity service
  • Newly enrolled in Income Installment Plan Plus (PIPP) or in default of PIPP

Approved persons can use the $500 toward bills or air conditioning unit or A/C repairs.

To receive money, applicants must provide a copy of the most recent month’s utility bill, a list of everyone living in the home, proof of income for the last 30 days for everyone over the age of 18, and proof of citizenship. You will need to collect a large number of documents such as /residence.
