Police Chief Wayne Drummond said two detectives spotted the vehicle around 6:20 p.m. and when they approached the vehicle, the four suspects got out and started running.

As officers got out of the detective car, one of the suspects in a bright orange jacket opened fire, and police believe they shot him four times.

Mayor Justin Bibb was able to visit the injured officer at the hospital.
