Red Sox beat Phillies for 7th straight win

Chris Sale struck out 10 in six innings as the Boston Red Sox extended their seventh straight win Friday night in a 5-3 decision against the hosts Philadelphia Phillies.

Sale (3-2) gave up three runs on seven hits and one walk. Richard Briar, Chris Martin and Kenley Jansen each went on scoreless innings, with Jansen making his seventh save.

Zach Wheeler (3-2) gave the Phillies the worst home start of the season by giving up 5 runs (4 earned) in 5 1/3 innings. He allowed seven hits and no walks with five strikeouts.

Enrique Hernandez went 2-for-4 with Boston’s runs and RBI. Emmanuel Valdes scored with an RBI to make him 2-for-3, with Justin Turner, Rafael Devers and Triston Casas each scoring his one run.
