Springfield garage destroyed by fire

Springfield, Ohio (WDTN) — Firefighters battled a garage fire Friday, but the building sustained significant damage.

Around noon on March 1, firefighters were called to the 1300 block of Fotler Street in Springfield. When they arrived, they found a fire in the garage just outside the home.

The owner of the property, Maxine Hudnell, spoke to 2 NEWS about her experience.

“All we heard was a bang and everything was on fire,” Hudnell said. “Everyone was out of the house and the animals were fine. Just sad, really sad. We lost everything in the garage.”

Springfield Fire Chief Jacob King said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but flammable materials are often stored in garages. He thinks that’s why the fire caused so much trouble to the workers at the site.

“Investigators will be working diligently to determine why it happened and where it happened, so we may be able to prevent another garage fire from occurring,” King said. Stated.

No one was inside the garage at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
