State man arrested for trying to bring hammer into state capitol = police

Washington DC (WJW) – A canton A man was arrested Friday after authorities said he struggled with officers while trying to bring a hammer into the U.S. Capitol.
according to united states capitol policeAround 3:40 p.m., during an X-ray examination at the Capitol Visitor Center, a police officer noticed the man had a hammer in his backpack.
When the police officer went to look inside the bag for a secondary inspection, investigators said the suspect tried to grab the bag and started fighting with the officer. press release.
U.S. Capitol Police said several officers intervened and a struggle broke out. Investigators say they used a stun gun to stop the suspect and took him into custody.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Christopher Snow of Canton, is charged with assault on a police officer.
Investigators say the hammer was found inside a backpack. They’re still trying to figure out why he brought it to the Capitol.
“Officers did what they were trained to do and stopped this man from entering the Capitol,” said Captain Andrew Pecher of the United States Communist Party. “From the officer who discovered the hammer to the officer who quickly took the suspect into custody, it was an outstanding job.”
