The Phoenix Suns signed veteran guard Isaiah Thomas to a second 10-day contract on Saturday.
Thomas, 35, has appeared in two games for the Suns since signing an initial 10-day contract on March 20. He is averaging 2.5 points, 1.0 assists and 4.5 minutes per game while shooting 40.0 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range. .
His second contract expires on April 9, with four games left in the Suns' regular season. The league allows clubs to sign players to up to two 10-day contracts before signing them for the remainder of the season or before they become free agents.
Thomas had not played an NBA game in 23 months when he signed with Phoenix. He averaged 32.5 points and made 25 3-pointers in four games with the G League's Salt Lake City Stars.
An NBA All-Star in 2016 and 2017, Thomas averaged 28.9 points and finished fifth in NBA MVP voting in the 2016-17 season with the Boston Celtics.
Thomas has played for 10 NBA teams, including his second stint with Phoenix. He averaged 15.2 points in 46 games (one start) for the Suns in 2014-15 and was traded to Boston during the season.
Thomas also played for the Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, and Charlotte Hornets.
He averaged 17.6 points in 552 games (362 starts) over 12 seasons.
