Point guard Isiah Thomas has signed a contract to remain with the Phoenix Suns through the end of the season, the team announced Tuesday.
Thomas signed a series of 10-day contracts with the Suns starting March 20, appearing in four games and averaging 1.3 points and 0.5 assists per game.
The league allows clubs to sign players to up to two 10-day contracts before signing them for the remainder of the season or before they become free agents. Thomas' second 10-day contract was set to expire Tuesday.
Thomas had not played an NBA game in 23 months when he signed with Phoenix. He averaged 32.5 points and made 25 3-pointers in four games with the G League's Salt Lake City Stars.
An NBA All-Star in 2016 and 2017, Thomas averaged 28.9 points and finished fifth in NBA MVP voting in the 2016-17 season with the Boston Celtics.
Thomas has played for 10 NBA teams, including his second stint with Phoenix. He averaged 15.2 points in 46 games (one start) for the Suns in 2014-15 and was traded to Boston during the season.
Thomas also played for the Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks, and Charlotte Hornets.
He played in 554 games (362 starts) over 12 seasons, averaging 17.5 points.
