Timken Steel Worker Seriously Injured in Factory Accident

CANTON, Ohio — A worker at the Timken Steel Faircrest plant in Stark County was seriously injured after being pinned down by a steel bar Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the factory on southwest Faircrest Street around 8:15 a.m. to report a stranded fall victim, said Perry Township Fire Chief Larry Sedlock.

When workers arrived, they discovered that the victim was no longer immobilized and was being attended to by Timken Steel personnel. Workers told firefighters that the victim was working in a type of elevator when something fell from above and trapped him. The victim was released by employees.

Sedlock said the victim was taken to Altmann Hospital, where he “appeared to be in critical condition.”

“The Perry Township Fire Department extends our thoughts and prayers to the victim, his family, and all of his colleagues,” Sedlock added in a statement to 3News. “Furthermore, we would like to thank all of our employees who supported us throughout the incident.”

3News has reached out to TimkenSteel with more details about this incident and will update this article.
