$1.5 million grant helps local families with medical costs

youngstown, ohio (WKBN) – A $1.5 million grant will provide financial assistance to families of children and youth with special needs, behavioral health needs, or chronic illnesses in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, according to a press release. .

The Youngstown Foundation announced Thursday that the three-year contract is the largest ever for its Operation Search and Help program.

“Our goal is to dramatically expand access to Operation Search & Help,” said Youngstown Foundation President Lynette Ford. “Many local families have expressed their gratitude for these funds, and we want to extend their benefits to even more families in need of help with medical costs.”

Reimbursements include medications, some medical expenses, equipment, specialty prescriptions, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and supplies, according to a press release. This includes business trips to medical institutions outside the city.

The press release states that Jessica Blankenship is one of the beneficiaries of the program. She has been paid compensation.
