Anthony Wayne High School baseball, softball close to state title

White House, Ohio — Anthony Wayne Baseball made history Friday with a victory over Medina in the district final. The Generals will advance to the state semifinals for the first time since 2018.

But it will be an exciting week for the Nowicki family.

“These are both incredible families.” [teams]said her mother, Christy Nowicki. we just love them all. We have watched our children grow up and it has been wonderful. ”

Christie and husband Andrew not only cheered for Anthony Wayne’s starting catcher son Hudlin on Friday, but so did their daughters.

Senior Trinity Nowicki is the starting catcher for a softball team playing for a state title. Nowicki hit the game-winning home run in Friday’s semifinals. Dad and mom say catching every match is always an exciting challenge.

“It’s nerve-wracking to play both of them in those conditions,” said Andrew Nowicki. “But it’s fun to see them challenge, have fun, and do well.”

Anthony Wayne Athletic Director Jon Snyder says all this success is no coincidence.

“These kids have been very committed,” Snyder said. “This is where all the 5am wake-up calls and winter training pay off.

Snyder said Anthony Wayne is the only program still looking for baseball and softball programs in the state. It’s something the players have worked hard to achieve, and something Snyder is grateful for when it happens.

“When you have moments like this, it’s important to take a moment, take a deep breath, and just recognize what you’re accomplishing because it’s incredible. And Considering that, it’s a great moment and that’s where we are now.” ”

Anthony Wayne Softball will play for the state title at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Firestone Stadium in Akron. Baseball will be played Thursday at 1:00 pm at Canal Park, also in Akron.
