Kim Lien Vu, Cierra Bishop, Makahla Rennick Charged with Attempted Arson at Nail Salon in Bora Bora, Warren County

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Three women have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges related to an attempted arson attack in Warren County.

Kim Lien Vu, 45, of Liberty Township was named Wednesday as one of three women charged with charges related to the attempted arson. Two other people charged have been identified as Sierra Bishop, 29, and Makara Rennick, 18, from Hamilton.

three women are bora bora nail salon, Monroe’s Salon, with the intention of destroying the business. Vu is believed to have commissioned two of her other women to create the device and install it in Monroe’s salon, according to the release.

Vu owns two other regional saloons, according to Ohio Secretary of State records.

In an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, surveillance footage reportedly shows Bishop and Lennick walking into Bora Bora. Renick is said to have made an appointment for a pedicure under an alias, but it is said that Renick is seen trimming his nails, presumably at Vu’s direction.

The bishop is said to have walked towards the back of the salon with two white bags and left one behind his desk.

A salon employee found a suspicious device that was said to smell like gasoline. The employee left the device outside near the trash can. After the installation, an employee went outside to check it and found it was on fire.

City of Monroe police officers responded to reports of a fire in a dumpster near the saloon.

Bishop and Lennick’s cell phones say the two had been planning the case for at least a week.
