Odds swing makes Bryce Young the frontrunner for #1
Following a longstanding belief that Vegas always knows, the oddsmakers have made major adjustments to the futures betting market, making Alabama’s Bryce Young a runaway favorite with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft .
Young, who met with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday, edged Ohio State’s CJ Stroud for much of March before temporarily dropping the odds to even ties this month.
On Wednesday, bettors betting on the No. 1 pick found Young well ahead of the pack.
Young is currently the first pick in the draft at -360 at DraftKings, -270 at FanDuel and -300 at BetMGM. Stroud puts him in second place in just about every sportsbook. Young was the No. 1 pick last month when he was as high as 350 points.
FanDuel lists Stroud at 200 and BetMGM has 210. The books universally noted that the Panthers were down to two options for #1.
The third highest odds belong to 2000 Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson (FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings).
Richardson’s odds of being drafted in the top 5 also changed from 4.5 to 135 (over) with the Draft Kings. Under is -165.
