School of the Arts Offers Summer Programs for Youth and Youth; Discounts Offered to Family Members of Ohio Employees

The Ohio University School of Fine Arts offers a variety of arts programs this summer for young people and teens that allow them to creatively explore different types of art forms.

University faculty members receive a 10% discount on program fees for dependents.

This university offers two different programming sets. One focuses on: art for young people and another focused pre-university program.

Summer Art for Youth will include high-quality, community-driven programs from the Athens Community Music School and Tantrum Theatre, as well as exploratory programs dedicated to the midfields of Art + Design and Film. Through various programs, elementary and middle school students collaborate with the university community and other hands-on artists and performers to develop and realize their ideas and potential.

Athens Community Music School: Summer Music Week 5-12 years old

The Summer Pre-College Program offers residential and on-campus pre-college programs for students ages 14-18 with a choice of courses in all areas of art. Students will have the opportunity to live on our beautiful campus in Athens, Ohio, while working with faculty and visiting artists to develop their skills and techniques, refine their creative vision, and create meaningful personal work.

The programs for the Summer Pre-College Program are:

Session 1: June 5-16, 2023 (Period of stay: June 4-17, 2023)

musical theater

Session 2: June 26-30, 2023
animation laboratory
Acting-intensive
Introduction of figures
Ohio Summer Music Academyband camps and intensive classes in contemporary music, digital instruments, piano, strings, and vocal music (Coursework from Sunday, June 25th to finale concert, Saturday, July 1st)
Summer Dance Institute with Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (For dancers aged 15 and over, final performance Saturday, July 1)
