Sen. Sherrod Brown: Gov. Mike DeWine and Ohio legislature are ‘anti-union’

Steubenville, Ohio (WTRF) — 7News is the regional election headquarters.

Union numbers may be declining, but if you ask Senator Sherrod Brown, unions shouldn’t be left out.

Speaking in Steubenville this week, the Ohio congressman said 70% of the population see unions as a force for good.

He calls Buckeye legislature and governor Mike DeWine “anti-union,” and says he and Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey are up every day to fight for workers.

That’s part of these elections, and electing a Democrat is really saying, “We want workers to have the opportunity to join unions, not be forced.” Allow unions at work.

He and Senator Casey are supporters of the Protecting the Right to Organize Act, which changes legal standards related to strikes and collective bargaining.

It passed the House of Representatives last year, but has yet to reach the Senate.
