Jehovah’s Witnesses are back on the doorstep after a long hiatus

Toledo, Ohio — Jehovah’s Witnesses After suspending door-to-door ministry for 30 months in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of Christian denominations resumed in-person ministry and meetings on September 1, 2022.

Husband and wife Martin and Jasmine Sully have been Jehovah’s Witnesses in Toledo for over a decade and are familiar with the mainstream methods they have followed for years.

But the outbreak of the pandemic and the need for social distancing have forced organizations to find new ways to reach out to potential witnesses.

Ms. Martin says that changing her style of ministry has created new opportunities as she has been able to reach people who were previously unable to write or make phone calls.

“I was able to meet people who had never been home before or were more reluctant to speak directly. I understand,” Martin said.

Robert Hendricks, a spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, said they have been productive during the pandemic, baptizing 400,000 new members in the past two years and increasing membership by 3% from last year.

Now, back on the doorstep, Hendrix says they’re still focused on safety. Lessons they learned during the pandemic.

“Learn to live with COVID among fellow community members and neighbors, face to face, stay safe and stay vigilant,” Hendricks said.

Hendrix says knocking is both an act of courage and an act of love. So far, the public reaction has been good, he said.

“We had a great experience with people who not only made us feel welcome, but really wanted us to come back,” he said.

It is one thing to be back at the door and another to fill the Kingdom Hall, the place of worship. Schley’s family and many others shed tears of joy at seeing people for the first time in two and a half years.

“It is time for us to come together again, and more importantly, we are now able to share this with others in our ministry,” said Jasmine Shree.

Jehovah’s Witnesses also launched their new global campaign free interactive bible We plan to return to face-to-face competition in the summer of 2023.
