Tornado drills across Ohio: When will they occur?

cleveland (WJW) – Ohio officials are preparing for a statewide tornado drill to be held this week.

A statewide tornado drill will begin at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, according to the Cuyahoga County Emergency Management Agency.

“The Cuyahoga County Emergency Management Agency will be sending out a test of the ReadyNotify system,” officials said in a statement. “Residents who sign up for alerts will receive text, email or phone messages regarding tornado drills throughout the state.”

In honor of Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week, county officials are asking schools, businesses and families to review their own tornado emergency plans.

A statewide drill will take place less than a week later. some tornadoes swept through Ohio, 3 people killed in Logan County And homes across the state were destroyed.

The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday night that at least eight tornadoes touched down during the storm.

On Sunday, Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency throughout the 11 counties affected by the tornadoes.
