YSS holds clothing giveaway on Wheeling Island on Saturday

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — A local organization today stepped up in a big way to help hundreds of people affected by recent flooding in Wheeling.

The Youth Services System held a clothing giveaway Saturday at Belle Isle Park on Wheeling Island.

They decided to donate them to the community, as all available clothing was donated to the center's Sophie Moses Free Store.

Tammy Kruse, director of development at YSS, said several families who lost many clothing items in the floods came looking for new clothes.

She says helping the community, which is always there to help others, is always something to be grateful for.

We live in a friendly city, a place where people want to help their neighbors, and we have not lost that. And that's still happening, and as you can see today, everything donated to us comes from multiple different people, and then we turn around and just donate it. It will be. So I feel like I'm just a conduit between those who need and those who give.
